Newcastle integrated PR agency OPR has been awarded the Outstanding PR Consultancy of the Year at the 2012 CIPR PRide Awards North East.

The seven-year-old agency joined others from the best of the North East’s Public Relations industry to reward excellence in PR and communications across theregion at the black tie gala held at the Gateshead Hilton hotel on Friday October 26.

As well as scooping gold for Outstanding PR Consultancy of the Year, OPR also picked up silver awards for Corporate Business Communications for Tharsus Engineering, Best Low Budget Campaign for Design Event Festival and Best Use of Social Media for Benfield.

OPR Chief Executive, Kari Owers, said, “We’ve been shortlisted for this top award five years in a row and won it once before in 2009, so it’s great to pick up Outstanding North East Agency again and have the whole team’s hard work over the past year recognised.

“The PRide Awards value the results we continue to deliver for our clients, and this year we were especially pleased to also be recognised for our work in social media which is a growing specialism at the agency.”
Earlier this year the agency launched O Digital, a specialist social media and digital content arm offering social business strategy, digital content and social media training.

CIPR CEO, Jane Wilson MCIPR, commented: “The North East CIPR PRide Awards celebrate the best PR and communications campaigns and teams from across the region. The sheer number of high quality entries received this year, especially when things are still pretty tough out there economically, is testament to a thriving regional industry. The CIPR PRide Awards represent the best, most creative and most effective public relations work across the UK and to win an award is a great achievement.”
OPR specialises in ‘360 degree public relations’, and has three divisions – PR, digital content and live experiential events – working with a range of clients including international, national and local organisations. The Ouseburn-based PR agency has now won over thirty industry awards since it was set up in 2005, making it one of the most awarded agencies outside of London in recent years.
